The Esco Zoo is Southern Califorinia's skate Mecca. With
the pro influences of Louie Zamora, Eric Schrijn and Robert
Lievanos, this event was destined to receive some sort of
publicity. Sure enough, Beau Cottington's camera was rolling
and Daily Bread's cameras were flashing. All eyes were focused
on the two fifteen year old wonders that stole the spotlight
from any professional that made an appearance. Erik Perkett
took first place with Mikey Albritton taking second. Both
these kids took the skating level two strides beyond any
other competitor at this event. Mikey skated so smooth and
consistent it was just fun to watch his run with out any
announcing. On the other hand lil'man Erik Perkett was pulling
tricks that even if Aaron Feinberg were doing them, everyone
would be amazed. Moves like crazy 360 transfers over the
railing of the 5 foot quarters were common in his run. Erik's
skating pleased the crowd and the judges and edged out Mickey
for first. In the women's division, Jillian Lacy rocket
makio'ed her way to victory over the new comer Rachel Norkin.
In vert Griffy March took first with no warm-up and no apperent
vert skating past. Griffy also qualified in the street comp.
