The Barcelona Super Contest was held on the pier at the olympic village in Barcelona, Spain on Sepember 14 and 15, 1996. This was the first major contest held in Spain - and it was a great first contest! The pro division featured great skating from some of Europe's best skaters as well as pros from around the world including Cesar Mora of Australia and Jon Julio of the USA.
The contest was organized in Spain by Rodats i Iniciatives Produccions, and was part of the IISS - International In-Line Skate Series produced by Anywhere Sports Productions of Los Angeles.
The ASA sanctioned the Barcelona Super Contest with ASA Certified Head Judge Andy Critchlow supervising the judges. The ASA contest format was used for the event, with the exception of a single run prelims in the vert contest (the second run was cut due to lack of time).
The event was taped for television and will air worldwide on Prime Sports.
