Toronto,
Canada - September 4, 2000
Along with Labor Day weekend in Toronto, came rain. The
Pro Tour stop was scheduled to be a two day event, but the
rain caused everything to be pushed back to what would be
an action packed Monday. Here's how things went down in
Canada.
On the street
course, Santiago Azpurua caputured his second win of the
season and Sam Fogarty repeated his X Games performance
with another silver in Toronto. With a third place finish,
Jaren Grob was able to become the number one ranked street
skater. Overtaking Sven Boekhorst by seven
points. Randy Spizer made a rare appearance on the Pro Tour
and skated well enough to take fourth, followed by Aaron
Feinberg in fifth. Jon Julio skated to a sixth place finish
followed by another rare appearance in Chiaki Ito, who took
7th. In the eight spot was Ryan Dawes out of Texas and Jason
Stinsmen out of Allentown, PA. Nicky Adams made another
appearance on the tour and skated to a tenth place finish.
Over on the
vert ramp, Shane Yost was able to secure his fourth gold
of the season over Eito and Takeshi Yasutoko in second and
third. Matt Salerno again
skated well and took home the fourth place prize money.
With his usual solid performance, Mike Budnik took home
5th, followed by Sam Fogarty in 6th and Marc Englehart in
7th. Fabiola da Silva not only took home the gold for women's
vert, but she once again broke into the men's top ten with
an 8th place finish. Paul Malina and Ryan Dawes filled out
the top ten in 9th and 10th.
