2001 ASA Pro Tour World Championships
and
World Amateur Championships


DATES: October 19-21, 2001 (*athletes must be there October 18)
LOCATION: North Richland Hills, TX at the North Hills Mall
DESCRIPTION: The ASA Pro Tour is the competitive circuit on which the world’s top skaters compete. The tour featured seven cities in 2001. The ASA Pro Tour World Championships is the largest and most prestigious event in the sport. In addition to the Pro Championships, the ASA will also be holding its World Amateur Championships during the same weekend where many of the best amateur skaters from around the world will battle for up to fifteen spots on the 2002 ASA Pro Tour.
PARTICIPANTS: This event will feature the top aggressive skaters in the world competing for the individual championships on the prestigious ASA Pro Tour. Approximately 70 skaters, both male and female, will compete based on their final rankings throughout the year.

In addition, the top 100 amateur skaters in the world will compete in the ASA World Amateur Championships to determine the skaters who qualify for the 2002 ASA Pro Tour. These top amateurs have been invited based on their results on the ASA Amateur Circuit.

COMPETITIONS: The athletes compete in two disciplines: vert skating and street course skating. Men and women compete together, but are judged separately.
PRIZE MONEY: $50,000 cash and prizes
HONORS (Amateur): Men’s Street: Up to the top ten skaters will be invited to skate on the 2002 Pro Tour.

Men’s Vert: Up to the top five skaters will be invited to skate on the 2002 Pro Tour.

Women’s Street and Vert: Top skaters will be selected from the finals based on judges’ discretion to skate on the 2002 Pro Tour.

TELEVISION: The event will be televised nationally on ESPN2 in the US. The event will also be telecast internationally to more than 180 countries.
ATTENDANCE: The event is expected to attract approximately 20,000 spectators
