The 1998 ASA Finals hit Las Vegas October 9-12, 1998. This huge event featured an improved version of the X Games course with the top 36 ranked street and vert men's pro skaters competing for the title of World Champion. The top 16 ranked pro women competed in the Women's Pro Championships.

The Finals also featured the 1998 North American Amateur Championships where the top amateur skaters from the US, Canada, and select European and Australian qualified skaters competed for the few pro slots available each year.
